Mokgwahli David Ramakgwakgwa

DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Two words sums-up who Mokgwahli David Ramakgwakgwa is…Hands-on and academic. After recently attaining a Masters’ Degree in Public Management, Mr. Ramakgwakgwa did not stop there. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Public Management and Governance at the North West University.

He joined Polokwane Local Municipality in 2011 and has since worked in several leadership positions. In carrying out his duties and responsibilities, he ensures sound governance and strong oversight in the interest of the community. His strong work ethic is something he did not develop overnight. A former provisional Chairperson of the Ethics Committee, Mr. Ramakgwakgwa is conscientious and policy driven.

His current role entails leading the negotiations and the capacitation of the local affected taxi industry operators towards the establishment of Esilux. Esilux is a Vehicle Operating Company that will run the Phase 1A operations of Leeto La Polokwane.

Ramakgwakgwa is happy to continue working with others to realize the City’s vision to provide residents with accessible, affordable, and attractive public transport.

Thembeka Monti

Transport Operations Manager, Leeto la Polokwane Systems Planning and Operations Manager, Capacity Builder

Challenging the status quo is what Ms. Monti is known for. She is not afraid to ask the hard questions, do the hard work that no one wants to do, and is driven by quality.

Born in the Eastern Cape, Ms. Monti has taken up positions in at least 2 provinces in the country, North West and Limpopo. Her previous positions include working at the Department of Transport in Mahikeng in the Conflict Management, Operating Licences, ENATIS and Roads and Construction business unit, and later at Vhembe District Municipality in the Public Transport Operations business unit responsible for Infrastructure Monitoring and Regulation.

In the Polokwane Municipality, Ms. Monti is the Systems Planning and Operations Manager responsible for improving the quality and accessibility of transport services, for all transport users in Polokwane through an effective, well-coordinated, integrated transport system.

Pilot Ramothwala

Public Transport Infrastructure Manager

Mr. Pilot Ramothwala is the Public Transport Infrastructure Manager, a position he has occupied and served with diligence for the past 7-years.

Leeto la Polokwane is just what Mr. Ramothwala needed after joining the municipality because his passion lies in roads and infrastructure. He holds a B-Tech degree in Transportation Engineering coupled with several certificates ranging from fundamentals of Labour-intensive Projects to advanced Project Management. Mr. Ramothwala has earned his stripes as an engineer. He started his career as an assistant surveyor working for one of the biggest construction companies in the country, Grinakek LTA. His previous jobs include working as a resident engineer for a consulting firm before working as a manager for roads and stormwater in the former Kungwini Local Municipality before it merged with the City of Tshwane.
